Description

The 81 Training Wing requires services to inspec/prep/wash/paint five (5) Static Display Aerospace Vehicles (SDAVs) to meet USAF Heritage standards (F-101C, F-104C, F-105D, T-28, T-33). The proximity to a large salt-water body accelerates corrosion of SDAVs at Keesler. Therefore, it is vital to ensure funding is secured to mitigate existing corrosion and restore the aircraft as a means to develop a resilient barrier to preserve historical artifacts. Without funding to refurbish and restore the SDAVs at Keesler Air Force base, the USAF could lose artifacts which served as trainers to prepare many USAF pilots for service and Vietnam War memorials.
