Special Education, Out of District Transportation

The Bedford Public Schools invite sealed bids for School Bus Transportation in accordance with the specifications enclosed for the period listed above. The Invitation to Bid (ITB) includes the following specific services:

1. Special Education, Out of District Van Transportation Bedford Public Schools intends on awarding routes with multiple transportation companies to ensure that all of our students are transported consistently and to the district’s satisfaction. Bidders may bid on one or all routes listed in Appendix B however, preference will be to award multiple routes to as few companies as possible. Proposals to combine routes should be listed separately and reflect cost savings to the district. Also include pricing for monitors should this service be required.

Bedford Public Schools reserves the right to reject any and all bids, and to award a route to other than the lowest bidder if, in its opinion, the lowest bidder is not a “responsive and responsible bidder” (Section 5(g) of Chapter 30B), and to waive any informalities in the bidding, if it be in the public interest to do so (Section 5(f) of Chapter 30B). A responsible bidder has the capability to perform the contract requirements and the integrity and reliability to assure good faith performance. A responsive bidder has met all requirements and submitted all documents required in this solicitation. Prior performance will be considered in the determination of the bidder’s responsibility. Award of this contract is subject to appropriation by the town. Non-appropriation shall enable the School Committee to cancel the contract without penalty.
