Recreation Sports completed a Campus Recreation Master Plan in 2022. Students, faculty and staff were involved in all aspects of the plan. The number one priority that students want/need more of is fitness space. Implementing phase 1 of the plan includes converting the current leisure pool natatorium to two (2) levels of additional fitness space. The current leisure pool is 10,468 square feet. By adding two (2) floors we would potentially increase our total fitness space from approximately 15,000 sf to approximately 35,000 sf. This project would include retrofitting the natatorium with two (2) levels that would be used for weights, fitness, group exercise, restrooms and personal training. This eliminates significant operating costs that continue to increase with the leisure pool’s age while addressing the overcrowding in the weight room. The substantial completion date is no later than August 1, 2027. Scope of Services will include preconstruction and CMAR services.
