  • Summary Department of Public Health & Environment (DDPHE), through the Community & Behavioral Health Division, is seeking a contractor to provide trauma-informed counseling, support groups, and nicotine replacement therapies (NRT) to help youth and young adults quit vaping and address the mental health factors associated with electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) use.

DPHE seeks to find a contractor to provide trauma-informed counseling, support groups, and nicotine replacement therapies (NRT) to help youth and young adults quit vaping and address the mental health factors associated with electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) use. The initiative targets the intricate relationship between addiction and mental health among affected youth and young adults, taking a holistic approach to promote cessation and resolve underlying mental health issues.

Project Objectives

It is expected that the contractor will deliver the following:

  • Identify specific mental health challenges associated with youth vaping.
  • Create and implement evidence-informed mental health interventions. Examples might include one on-one-counseling, group counseling, family counseling, etc.
  • Provide trauma-informed counseling services tailored to the needs of youth affected by vaping.
  • Implement and manage NRT interventions to aid in cessation efforts.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of mental health and cessation interventions.
  • Work with other local healthcare providers, mental health providers and community organizations to enhance program reach and effectiveness.
  • Focus on engaging and supporting underserved populations, including but not limited to low-income communities, LGBTQ+ youth, and those with behavioral health conditions.

Funded by the Colorado Department of Law-Attorney General’s Office via the Combat Vaping Youth Grant (from the state JUUL lawsuit settlement).
