Project Details: CA ERFO FS SEQUI 2021-02(2), Powderhorn Bridge

This project is located in the Sequoia National Forest in southeastern California. The terrain is rolling and mountainous with elevations ranging up to 5600 ft.

The existing bridge (Structure 051353000001018) on Route 23S64, approximately 30 miles east from Placerville, CA, was constructed in 1966, as reported in the inspection report. It had an overall bridge length of 50 feet, roadway width (curb to curb) of 14.0 ft, and deck width (outside to outside) of 15.0 ft.

The purpose of the project is to replace the Powderhorn Bridge over Bear Creek within Sequoia National Forest on FS route 23S64 in Tulare County, California. The bridge was completely damaged by the Windy fire late in the summer of 2021 and is proposed to be fully replaced with a prefabricated steel bridge.
