NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE:
This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract. Pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) 13.106-1(b)(1)(i). Contracting Officers may solicit from one source if it's determined only one source is reasonably available to satisfy agency requirements, as supplemented with additional information in this notice.
The US Coast Guard, Base Honolulu intends to award on a sole source basis a Firm Fixed Price purchase order (PO) to Spika Design and Manufacturing. We are using this rotor blade trailer to ensure consistency and continuity in union with US Coast Guard Aviation Units, and to meet US Coast Guard maintenance systems standards as per US Coast Guard Asset Computerized Maintenance System, Maintenance Procedure Card MH-65 07000.1.
The work to be performed is the creation of a custom MH-65 (Helicopter) rotor blade trailer. This trailer is used to contain the rotor blades for transportation of the blades with or without the MH-65, specifically via US Coast Guard owned C-130 planes. Trailer must meet specific dimensions along with specific weight standards as not to comprise the C-130 max load capacity.
