PURPOSE: The Plano Independent School District (Plano ISD) is seeking proposals for the purchase of towing services for disabled vehicles owned by the district. The Plano ISD fleet consists of approximately 272 school buses and 200 light, medium and heavy-duty trucks, vans and trailers. The expected services include the following: hook-up and tow of disabled district-owned vehicles from a location within district boundaries to a repair destination and between repair locations. The purchase of towing services will be on an “As Needed” basis. All proposers shall be established local towing companies whose primary business is towing services.
ANNUAL EXPENDITURE: The estimated annual expenditure for this contract is approximately $45,000 per year. However, this estimate should not be construed to be a guarantee of either minimum or maximum since usage is dependent on actual need and available funding. The actual expenditure may be more or less. This estimate may be exceeded by 25% annually.
TERM: The initial term of the contract will be for one (1) year from date of Board approval and all line item prices must remain firm for the first year.
This contract, upon the agreement of both the successful vendor(s) and the Plano ISD, will automatically extend for four (4) additional one (1) year periods. Plano ISD has the option to extend this RFP at the end of the performance period for up to 120 days if determined to be in the best interest of the district to ensure availability of products and/or services.
At renewal time, if there are industry-wide increases or circumstances beyond vendor control that can be documented, the district will consider price increases for the line items involved. This decision will be made by Plano ISD in its best interest at that time. A reminder will be sent and the vendor will automatically be renewed at the end of the four option periods, unless they opt out in writing.
Plano ISD has the option to issue subsequent RFPs as needed.

TOW WRECKER AND EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS: The successful proposer shall have tow wrecker vehicle capacity and equipment to respond rapidly to calls for tow service of all light, medium and heavy-duty district-owned vehicles, including school buses.
