Iowa State University of Science and Technology (ISU) is soliciting information from qualified contractors to remove existing car wash and provide & install a new car wash for Transportation Services on the ISU campus, Ames, IA.
There will be a MANDATORY pre-bid meeting, see the Activities Tab. Please hold all questions about the bid until the pre-bid meeting.
Contractors should read all materials carefully and note the due date.
Contractors must submit all questions in the "Questions" tab related to this bid opportunity.
Bid responses will ONLY be accepted online via ISUBid. Please allow adequate time to review and submit your response prior to the deadline.

Question Questions from the pre-bid meeting
Answer
1) Will Contractor be required to clean up old plumbing and electrical? No, leave existing plumbing and electrical.

2) What are dimension of largest vehicle driven through the car wash? High roof van with a height of 8 ft and, Dually truck with 101" w x 22 ft. L

3) Does heater need to be brought up to code? (see below)

4) Is the water line size 1" or 3/4"? Water line is 1" .

5) How think is the concrete floor? T he existing carwash concrete slab is 6” thick with 6” x 6” - #10 x #10 wire fabric reinforcing.

6) What amps are available?

a. Two – 60A/3P, one – 40A/3P, two – 20A/3P, one – 30A/3P. There is also three – 20A/1P breakers that serve the doors, lights, and receptacles of the space.

b. 3 phase, 208 Vac, 300 amp (clarification from original exhibit 1)

7) What is the cap? Current load unknown, cannot be provided.

8) Are heaters up to code? ISU will review an d make any changes necessary to bring unit up to code.

Answer
1) Will you only accept a unit with on board dryers? ISU specified oscillating on board dryer. (see #3, item attributes)


2) Per height of vehicle to be determined, is moving existing heaters an option? At this time, ISU has no intention of moving the heaters .


3) Would we be able to find out the water pressure after the meter? The water pressure is unknown but the water line is 1" diameter.

There will be an MANDATORY pre-bid meeting due to the nature of this RFP/RFQ. Hold all questions about the bid until the pre-bid meeting .
Attendance at the Pre-bid meeting (site visit) is required. Failure to attend or have representation at this meeting will result in the Contractor being ineligible to participate in the bid process
Pre-bid Meeting starting location; Transportation Services- 1015 Haber Road, Ames, IA. Prebid will start in west end of brick building. Car wash is located in building south of parking lot at 919 Haber Rd, Ames, IA 50010
Parking for the pre-bid is available to the south of the 1015 Haber building.
Please email wkfoster@iastate.edu with your intent to attend this mandatory pre-bid meeting/site visit.
No verbal statements by ISU or its representatives at this meeting will be binding. ISU will post all changes and material clarifications in the form of an addenda after the meeting.
