This project will extend Veterans Memorial Parkway from Graves Avenue to MLK Jr Beltway
This project begins at the current northern terminus of Veterans Memorial Parkway (VMP) at East Graves Avenue in Orange City, Volusia County, Florida. The project consists of the extension of VMP (a divided roadway with 11ft travel lanes, 5ft paved shoulders, and 17.5ft sodded median) and widening of North Kentucky Ave. and Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd. The extension of VMP extends approximately 3,000LF north of
its current intersection with East Graves Ave., intersects with North Kentucky Ave. south of its intersection with SR 472, and then continues along North Kentucky Ave. and Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd. north of SR 472 for an additional distance of approximately 1,000LF. Two new stormwater ponds are proposed along the alignment. Pond 1 is located near the intersection of the VMP extension road and North Kentucky Ave. and Pond 2 is located at the intersection of North Kentucky Ave. and SR 472. Other improvements include 5ft sidewalks, two new strain poles to replace existing poles at the intersection of VMP and SR 472, turn lane addition to East Graves Ave. at the intersection of VMP, and turn lane addition at Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd. on the north side of the intersection with SR 472. The intersections at SR 472 and at East Graves Ave. will be prepared for future smart signals. Utility Coordination will be significant. Intersection Lighting available at 90% Design. The 60% construction plans are included as Exhibit D.
