1.3 Flooring Installation - Product Specifics
The Contractor shall furnish and install the specified Flowfresh system: Flowfresh SR
body coat, 460 sand broadcast, and Flowfresh SR Sealer topcoat , strictly adhering to
Flowcrete/Key Resin Company's technical data sheets and application instructions.
The system is HACCP International certified and includes Polygiene(R) antimicrobial
additive.

System Specification
Base Coat: Flowfresh SR , a heavy-duty, chemical-resistant
polyurethane cement resin system, applied at a thickness to yield a
finished floor of approximately 1/4" to 5/16" (6-8 mm).
Aggregate Broadcast : A full broadcast of 460 sand i nto the wet Flowfresh
SR base coat to provide necessary texture and slip resistance, exceeding
ADA recommendations.
Topcoat/Sealer : A lock coat of Flowfresh SR Sealer, a 100% solids,
semi-flexible, pigmented urethane sealer, applied at approximately 120 sq.
ft. per unit to achieve the specified satin or gloss finish.
Coving : Install an integrated Flowfresh Cove base a t all wall junctions,

Executive Summary: Seamless Flooring Continuity & Equipment
Management
Project Objective:
The Contractor shall be solely responsible for the installation of a continuous,
monolithic flooring system throughout the VAPA and Central Kitchen facilities. To
ensure the Flowfresh SR system (inclusive of the 460 sand broadcast and SR Sealer)
provides a 100% seamless hygienic barrier, the Contractor must ensure the system is
applied beneath all kitchen infrastructure.
Contractor Responsibility for Fixed Equipment:
Continuity Requirement: The flooring system must be continuous and
uninterrupted. Applying the Flowfresh system around equipment legs, bases, or
fixed cabinetry is strictly prohibited unless otherwise noted in the specific
exceptions list.
Equipment Handling: The Contractor is responsible for identifying, unbolting,
lifting, or temporarily removing all fixed kitchen equipment, machinery, and
casework necessary to provide an unobstructed substrate for mechanical prep
and resin application.
Means and Methods: While the District requires a continuous floor, the
Contractor shall determine the specific means and methods for lifting or moving
equipment. The Contractor is responsible for ensuring all equipment is handled
in a manner that prevents damage to the units, utility connections, or the building
structure.
Reinstallation: Upon completion and full cure of the Flowfresh SR Sealer topcoat,
the Contractor shall re-install and re-anchor all listed cabinetry and equipment to
their original locations, ensuring they are level and properly sealed to the new
floor surface.

Scope Adherence:
Failure to provide a continuous floor surface beneath fixed equipment shall be deemed
a non-conformance with the HACCP International certification standards required for
this project.
Authorized Usage Allowance (A.U.R.):
Contract requires mandatory 10% A.U.R. to be included for all qualifying bids.
Contractor Responsibility for Measurements and conditions:
* Field Measurements: The Contractor shall perform independent field measurements
for all areas designated for flooring replacement.
* Flooring Scope: Flooring replacement includes the removal of existing materials and
installation of new flooring as specified. The Contractor must verify the total square footage
and any necessary sub floor preparation during the mandatory job walk.
* No Reliance on Estimates: Any dimensions or floor plans provided in the bid package
are for reference only. The Agency provides no guarantee as to their accuracy.Waiver
of Claims: By submitting a bid, the Contractor warrants they have investigated the site
and satisfied themselves as to the conditions affecting the work. No price adjustments
or change orders will be granted for "omitted square footage" or "measurement errors"
discovered after the contract award
* Moisture Testing (VUSD/Contractor Shared):
* Vista Unified School District (VUSD) will provide initial moisture testing
for informational purposes.
* The Contractor is solely responsible for performing their own independent moisture
and alkalinity tests
(e.g., ASTM F2170) immediately prior to installation to confirm that substrate conditions
meet all manufacturer standards.
* Adherence to Manufacturer Standards: The Contractor warrants that all installation
conditions meet flooring and adhesive manufacturer specifications. By proceeding with
installation, the Contractor accepts the substrate conditions; no claims for failures related
to moisture will be accepted if the Contractor fails to perform these verification tests.
* Waiver of Claims: By submitting a bid, the Contractor warrants they have investigated the
site and satisfied themselves as to the conditions affecting the work. No price adjustments
or change orders will be granted for "omitted square footage," "measurement
errors,"or"unforeseen substrate conditions"discovered after the contract award.

Mandatory Dust Containment :
* * To prevent cross-contamination of food-prep zones and adjacent areas, the contractor must
implement the following ICRA-style containment protocols:
* * Physical Barriers: Install floor-to-ceiling 6-mil flame-retardant plastic sheeting (polyethylene) to
seal off the work zone. All seams must be taped with high-tack painter's tape to ensure an airtight

Flowfresh CM - Cove
Preparation
Surfaces to be coated should be sound and provide adequate strength for the proposed end use with a
minimum compressive strength of 3000 psi. Substrate should be surface dry and free from excessive
rising moisture.
Grinding removes laitance. Irregularities, damage, and cracks can be filled with epoxy mortar or with
Flowfresh HF prior to cove installation. All residues must be removed to provide a dry, dust free open
textured surface. The surface profile and levels should be appropriate for the system to be applied.
Anchor grooves, at least 14" wide and 14" deep, must be cut at 6" perimeter along all walls, edges, pillars,
doors, drainage channels, grid drains and penetrative joints.
Contact FlowResinfor advice if there are impurities, such as oils etc., in the concrete.
Outline Specification
Apply Peran TCW at approx. 175-225 sq ft/gal

mixed cove material to "hang" on the wall. Apply cove base mortar while primer is tacky. Important: DO
NOT use Flowfresh FC as cove base primer. Important: A drywall substrate will require replacement with
cement board/tile backer board.
Prime the surface with Peran TCW and apply the skirting/cove compound wet-on-wet. Re-prime if the
primer becomes tack-free.
Mixing
Flowfresh CM (4 pack product with pigment pack).
Pour Base A into a suitably sized mixing vessel (e.g. a Kol mixer) and add the pigment pack and mix
using a slow speed drill and helical spinner and mix for 20 seconds. Add all of Hardener B and mix for
30 seconds and then add Filler C whilst mixing. Ensure that all fillers and resins are scraped into the mix
from the sides of the mixing vessel otherwise bubbles/blisters can develop in the applied cove. Continue
mixing until a homogenous mixture is obtained (90 seconds). Consistent mixing time of batches is
important to ensure color consistency.

Application
Trowel cove base mixture vertically onto primed tacky wall surface at 3/16"-1/4" thickness.Place material
at the cove and form cove radius using an appropriate cove trowel.
Terminate bottom of cove base and install Flowfresh flooring up to base. Be careful not to create a ridge
or lip where terminating the flooring system onto the cove base radius.
Optionally use xylene, MEK, or MEK Substitute to keep the cove trowel clean, this will also help to smooth
trowel marks while placing the cove base mortar. Do NOT use isopropyl alcohol (IPA), this may cause
an adverse reaction with Flowfresh CM.
In the case of lighter colors, metal transfer from the trowel can lead to an inconsistent finish. It is good
practice to over coat with a single application of Flowfresh FC applied 16-24 hours after the application
of the Flowfresh CM.
Note:
FlowResinproducts are often multiple-component systems. Poor mixing, or incorrect mixing procedures,
can result in irregular and incomplete hardening, which in turn can result in an inferior result.
The temperature should be at least 60 degreesF to achieve the best results during application. The temperature
of the substrate should be at least 50 degreesF, although a temperature of 60-80 degreesF is recommended.
Installations of an integral cove base with Flowfresh Systems are normally terminated at the floor line by
cutting a straight line at the bottom of the cove and installing the system up to that point. The top of the
cove is preferably terminated with a divider however, troweling over a masking tape border is also
acceptable (be sure to pull tape before resins begin to gel).
The temperature of the substrate should exceed the "dew point" by more than 5 degreesF during application and
hardening.
The product should be stored in such a way that the temperature is the same as the room temperature
where the product is to be applied, i.e. between 60-80 degreesF. This improves the mixing, flow, penetration and
hardening of the product.
Complete hardening takes 5-7 days.
Flowfresh FC should not be applied in thicker coats than specified because the cure (hardening) can be
impaired.
There are often several types of products at a workplace. Sort the products separately to avoid mistakes.
It is important that the material is kept warm, to maintain its fluidity. It is also necessary to warm up the
filler component; otherwise, it will act as a heat sink and cool down the mixture.

Flowfresh SR + Flowfresh SR Sealer
Preparation/Substrate
Surfaces to be coated should be sound and provide adequate strength for the proposed end use with a
minimum compressive strength of 3000 psi. Substrate should be surface dry and free from excessive
rising moisture.
Blasting or scarifying removes laitance. Irregularities, damage and cracks can be filled with epoxy mortar
or with Flowfresh SR.
Anchor grooves, at least 14" wide and 14" deep, must be cut at 6" perimeter along all walls, edges, pillars,
doors, drainage channels, grid drains and penetrative joints.
All moving joints must pass through the coating and must be sealed tight. Anchor grooves must be cut
on both sides of such joints. Welded joints and cracks in the concrete may be coated, but if movement
occurs the coating will also crack.
All residues must be removed to provide a dry, dust free open textured surface. The surface profile and
levels should be appropriate for the system to be applied. Normally a minimum of CSP 4 - 5 is
recommended for Flowfresh SR.
Contact FlowResinfor advice if there are impurities, such as oils etc., in the concrete.
Outline Specification
Apply Flowprime at approx. 175-225 sq ft/gal -for extremely porous surfaces only.
Apply Flowfresh SR at approx 24 sq ft/unit (3/16") and broadcast to refusal with 30/70's mesh silica sand
or Estes BCM (or equivalent).
Apply Flowfresh SR Sealer at 120 sq ft/unit.
Primer
Flowfresh SR does not normally require a primer. In the case of a highly porous substrate, prime the
using Flowprime as described below.
Pour all of Hardener B into the Base A container. Mix using a slow speed drill and helical spinner until a
homogenous mixture is obtained (high speed mixing and/or incorrect mixing heads will cause excessive
air entrapment).
Immediately after mixing, pour out all of the resulting mixture onto the floor and apply using a double-
lipped rubber squeegee and roller.
Scatter dry sand or quartz (approx. 16-30s mesh) into the primer, whilst wet.
