ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Pursuant to N.C.G.S. 143-129, sealed bids endorsed Fire Hydrant Replacements On-Call Contract,
FB2733will be received by City/County Purchasing, 101 N. Main Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101
until 1:00 PM, August 20, 2026, at which time all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud in Room
16 City Hall. The City reserves the right to waive any informalities in the bidding and to reject any or
all proposals. Bidders are hereby notified that they must be properly licensed as required by Chapter 87
of the North Carolina General Statutes. If three bids are not received, the project will be re-advertised.
The bid package may be obtained, as well as instructions for submitting bids, by contacting TaWanna
Gates at tawannag@cityofws.org (preferred) or 336-747-6938 during normal business hours. Electronic
bidding documents are available by request on or after August 3, 2026.
For technical questions regarding this project, please submit questions in writing to Corbin Willard at
corbinw@cityofws.org. The End of Question Period is 2:00 PM, August 13, 2026.
Scope summary: remove fire hydrants and valves at various locations throughout the water distribution
system which have become inoperable, non-existent or have been identified as being in need of
replacement, and install new fire hydrants and associated items as indicated in the following itemized
bid chart with estimated quantities. Work will be throughout Forsyth County.
This is a formal construction/repair bid and a 3-year renewable term contract. No pre-bid conference is
being held.
