Smokey Bear is our primary wildfire prevention education tool, reaching hundreds of children
each year through schools and community events. Two Smokey Bear suits are necessary to serve
both the Southeast and East Central regions of the state and to meet demand without limiting
programming. Our current suits are past their usable lifespan and are deteriorating, impacting
safety and the effectiveness of our outreach. Replacing them ensures continued, high-quality
prevention education and appropriate public representation of the Agency.
