Maryland Accreditation is a quality improvement process to support licensed childcare centers, Head Start, and public-school prekindergarten programs in identifying continuous quality improvements to benefit children and youth, families, and staff. The goal is to assist programs in improving the day-to-day quality with which they serve children, youth, and families. The Standards for Implementing Quality Early Childhood Programs and Standards for Implementing Quality School-Age Child Care define best practices for various program types as they engage in the continuous process of self-appraisal, analysis, and program improvement.
