Synopsis The WWTS is a new treatment facility to treat combined sewer overflows (CSOs) prior to discharge through a new outfall into the east waterway at the mouth of the Duwamish River. The project will construct an equalization basin(s), screening, pumps, ballasted sedimentation technology for solids removal, chlorine disinfection system utilizing ultraviolet light (UV) disinfection, solids storage, and instrumentation and controls. The scope includes the demolition of existing structures and foundations, construction of a below-grade 4 million-gallon (MG) equalization basin, shoring and excavation work, and soil management (including disposal of contaminated soils, ground improvements, and tremie slabs). The scope also includes influent piping, screening and pumping, construction of a vendor supplied ballasted sedimentation UV disinfection treatment system, solids handling, odor control systems, and site surface improvements.
