Title: Cellular Enhancement System
Addenda: 0
Release Date: 11/3/2025
Due Date: 12/19/2025
The County of San Mateo Health Administration is comprised of 11 Divisions providing health and welfare across San Mateo County including (a) Administration & Central Finance, (b) Aging & Adult Services, (c) Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, (d) Correctional Health, (e) Emergency Medical Services, (f) Environmental Health, (g) Family Health, (h) Health Coverage Unit, (i) Health Information Technology, (j) Public Health, Policy & Planning, (k) San Mateo Medical Center.
San Mateo County Health currently utilizes an existing antenna and repeater infrastructure to support radio communications and limited wireless coverage. These systems were primarily designed for voice and emergency services communications, and while they offer some degree of signal boosting, they do not meet modern demands for high-speed, reliable cellular connectivity.
With increasing reliance on wireless networks for daily operations, mobile workstations, cloud-based applications, and public services, the current system lacks the capacity, bandwidth, and coverage to support the County’s growing digital requirements. As a result, users frequently experience connectivity dead zones, slow speeds, and network congestion, which can impact productivity and service delivery.
To address these issues, San Mateo County is seeking to implement a new cellular enhancement system. This upgrade aims to deliver comprehensive, high-performance wireless coverage throughout the building, supporting both internal County operations and, where applicable, public access. The solution should integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure, meet current and future technology standards, and provide robust security, scalability, and centralized management.
