Garbage and Recycling Bid
Questions and Answers
Question: At War Memorial Field, the bid states you won’t need a can there until August
2027. Can you confirm?
Answer: Yes, service to War Memorial Field will begin in August 2027 and will be on-call
service. In the meantime, we will use the dumpster located at Fink Elementary for stadium
trash. Fink Elementary is closing at the end of this school year, so service will eventually be
discontinued for that building, which will necessitate War Memorial Field having its own
service beginning in the fall of 2027 and each remaining fall months of the contract.
Question: In Sections 3 and 4, we will leave the Monthly Service Cost blank as it is a
variable cost for on-call pickup. Confirming that this is acceptable?
Answer: If you charge a monthly fee or monthly rental fee to have the on-call service
dumpsters on our site, please disclose that cost on these lines. If you do not charge a fee, you
may list zeros or leave the lines blank, and it will be assumed that there is no fee.
Question: How many times per week is each school site serviced?
Answer: Please refer to the Collection Schedule listed in the RFP.
Question: Where do we list the disposal fee per ton?
Answer: If there are any per-ton disposal fees, please list them on the line with other costs.
For example: “$X.XX per ton” or “$X.XX per on-call service pickup.”
Question: Middletown is requesting a 6-yard “dock style” dumpster. Are 6-yard “dock style”
dumpsters required, or can 8-yard “dock style” dumpsters be used instead? This question is
being asked because 6-yard dock style dumpsters are quite rare and are generally not
ordered.
Answer: Yes, 8-yard dock style dumpsters are acceptable substitutes for the requested 6-
yard dock style dumpsters.
Question: Does Middletown have an overload issue where an 8-yard dumpster would be a
better choice?
Answer: When garbage is collected according to the requested schedules, we typically have
not encountered issues with dumpsters being overloaded.
Question: When are bids due?
Answer: As listed in the bid documents, bids will be received until 9:00 a.m. on June 4th.
Bids received after this time will be disallowed.
You may hand-deliver your bid response by 9:00 a.m. on June 4th to:
