DASSP aims to improve the health, dignity, and independence of older adults. It provides centralized dietary services, food production oversight, and promotes nutrition education and obesity prevention. DASSP ensures the quality of services through meal planning, nutritional assessments, and staff training. The program operates through the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Elderly Nutrition Program (ENP) at various service locations, including central kitchens and catering facilities. It also offers nutrition screening, counseling, and education by Registered Dietitians at congregate meal sites and for high-risk older adults at home. Additionally, DASSP develops menus and provides technical assistance to ENP service providers across the County.
