Description:
This is a request for proposal for a Database of Scholarly Work.
The purpose of this Request for Proposal (“RFP”) is to acquire a Database of Scholarly Work for the Office of Institutional Analysis. Each proposal shall be with the understanding that, at a minimum, the successful bidder will be required to provide the services identified below, observing all applicable federal, state and local laws:

The vendor acknowledges all university data, including backup and archived, and implementation professional services will only be stored in datacenter within the continental United States.

Solution must provide comprehensive, longitudinal database of scholarly research activities that allow institutional credential users to explore the institution’s scholarly research and compare it to customizable peer data sets.

Data must be in the primary areas of scholarly accomplishment such as journal articles, citations, books, grants, conference proceedings, honorific awards, book chapters, US patents and clinical trials, with data covering a decade or longer.

Data warehouse must provide robust information on the scholarly research activities of institutional scholars, with the scholar used as the base unit record.

Data warehouse must have comprehensive coverage of Ph.D. programs, cancer centers, and medical schools.

Solution must provide comparative analytics of research metrics for departments' and PhD programs' faculty that combine elements of scholarly research metrics to determine respective z-scores according to predetermined metrics, as well as ranking of academic programs accordingly.

Solution must provide comparative analytics of research metrics for department of faculty at medical schools, focused on scholarly activity at the approximate volume of or higher than UB’s current Peer groups which include approximately 185,000 medical department faculty, in 80 disciplines, across 158 NIH-funded medical schools and 112 cancer centers.

Solution must provide career paths of UB doctoral alumni which enables the user to view job positions, current employers, locations and estimated salaries at the individual and aggregate levels and compare outcomes to peers.

Solution must provide information on faculty partnerships and UB alumni in partnerships across industry.

Solution must have cloud-based tools that provide holistic metrics to assist in strategic planning and program/departmental review.

Dashboards must be configurable, enabling users to create custom peer groups, time windows, and custom weights for research types, enabling comparative exploration of scholarly activity across departments, programs, institutions and disciplines.

Solution must have role-defined security. Institutional administrators must have the ability to make details limited to certain views.
