CANYONLANDS Award

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) awarded the CANYONLANDS contract on 19 September 2025 to ECS Federal, LLC located at 2750 Prosperity Avenue, Suite 600, Fairfax, VA 22031. This new stand-alone CANYONLANDS contract will transition and continue NGA-funded Research Topic Areas (RTAs) from an Army Research Lab (ARL) Contract, referred to herein as RUNWAY, in pursuant to the statutory authority permitting other than fully an open competition is 10 U.S.C 3204(a)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, “Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.” The contract provides integration services in support of NGA’s Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) model development, integration, and operational deployment. This action exercises the final optional period of NGA-funded Research Topic Areas (RTAs) of Army Research Lab’s RUNWAY contract where ECS Federal, LLC is the incumbent. NGA allocated financial and management functions to ARL. In shifting the work from the RUNWAY contract to the CANYONLANDS contract, NGA is expected to realize financial, management, and contractual efficiencies.

The incumbent will continue the work that is currently performed to include the delivery of software in the form of AI/ML models, multi-tenant cloud environments for model developers and testers, and hardware enabling the successful deployment of AI/ML models to end users in austere networking environments in support of NGA’s Strategic Objective of enhancing operational readiness, I&W, and Targeting by leveraging services in delivering AI/ML and Advanced Analytics to end users. The face value of the award is $95.6M; the total cumulative value, including an unexercised option CLIN, is $104.3M. The CANYONLANDS award includes one (1) 12-month base with no option periods.
