DESCRIPTION OF WORK AND SPECIFICATIONS
The City of Batavia Department of Community and Economic Development is seeking quotes demolish, fill, grade and seed the premises located at 106 North River Street in the City of Batavia.
PROJECT ESTIMATED TO BE COMPLETED AND INVOICED NO LATER THAN 90 DAYS FROM DATE BID IS AWARDED.
INSPECTION AND PAYMENT
Final inspection of the Property will be made by the City of Batavia Department of Community and Economic Development and the City’s Engineering Division. Payment will be made on satisfactory completion of the work, proper invoicing, and all receipts pertaining to the disposal of debris and work completed.
Quote Specifications: Full information regarding properties will be disclosed at the Pre-Bid Meeting scheduled On Site at May 30, 2025 at 9:00 AM.
Work Description
The City is seeking quotes for demolition, filling, grading and seeding of the site of a building at 106 North River Street, PIN 12-22-233-017. The work will not involve, and will require work around the building at 122 North River Street and the shed structure used for Batavia MainStreet. The work under this bid shall include the following:

Clean up as needed to remove debris from the interior of the building.

Removal/remediation and proper disposal of all asbestos based materials, if any present, including but not limited to: siding, floor tile, caulking and insulation materials.

Removal of the painted sign on the north side of the building in an intact manner. This shall be set aside for the City to reuse elsewhere.

Allowance prior to demolition to salvage any materials on or within the building including siding and any internal support beams. Preservation of these elements shall be at the discretion and direction of the City.

Demolition and haul off of the existing structure on the site, including foundation and footing removal.

Adding clean fill to the basement/cellar after removal of any foundation that may remain after building removal.

Regrading of the site, including clean fill as needed to provide a uniform surface with the surrounding lot and provide proper drainage, per the direction of the City Engineer.

Addition of pulverized topsoil as needed and seeding and blanketing of the disturbed areas.
All refuse must be removed to an Illinois Environmental Protection Agency permitted land fill or waste transfer station. Appliances, covered electronic devices, landscape waste, tires, waste oil and/or lead acid batteries must be taken to a facility that can recycle or dispose of them.
The vendor must provide receipts documenting the end disposal of all items removed from the property.
Vendor must provide documentation to certify that any fill materials placed on site are clean and free from any debris or contamination.
Water for dust control will be provided, free of charge, to the vendor at the City’s Public Works Facility located at 200 N Raddant Rd., approximately two miles east of the subject property. Vendor is responsible for storage and transport of the water to the project site. Pest control shall be utilized as necessary to mitigate vermin that may be on the premises. Perimeter security and/or safety fencing shall be erected until the project is completed. A portable restroom shall be required on the site any time workers are present.
Community and Economic Development staff will be present at the property periodically during the duration of the clean-up. An inspection of the completed work is required to confirm compliance with the quote specifications and Ordinance requirements.
