Whistle Stop Sewer Repair

This is an emergency sewage line repair at the Whistle Stop Daycare center located at VAPAHCS Palo Alto, CA 94304. The scope of work includes pumping out sewage and surrounding overflowed areas, clear any obstruction to the lines causing obstruction to the line, and inspect sewer lines after pumping out housing for any breaks in the line.

Engineering received a work order about a foul smell outside the Whistle Stop. While investigating on the same morning, the sewage pump vault outside the building was full of sewage. The size of the utility vault required a vacuum truck to come pump out the vault for a final determination of the cause of the sewage leak. Subsequently it was determined the pumps needed replacement. Paragon Mechanical, Inc was already working at the site and due to the urgency were given a notice to proceed on the repair. There was not time to develop an acquisition package as normal since this was a sanitary emergency.

The Justification and Approval was posted justifying this as a sole source due to urgency.
