Description

THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ONLY. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. REQUESTS FOR A SOLICITATION WILL NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE.



The government requires high speed broom bristles and broom cores to fit new MB2 broom equipment. Below is the characteristics of what the Government is looking for:



High Speed Broom Bristles



1. One set shall consist of the proper amount of cassettes sections to fill the entire core.



2. Cassettes will be no more than 33 inches in length.



3. Each full-length cassette section shall contain 20 tufts of .45 mm wire.



4. Length of each tuft shall be 11 inches from the top of the cassette strip to the tip of the wire bristle.



5. Each tuft shall consist of 140 pieces of zinc coated steel wire, quality grade of "C".



6. Cassette sections shall be a Thermoplastic Styrenic Elastomer (TPS) formed cup, which extends up the length of the tuft no less than 3.1 inches for support.



7. Distance between the centers of each cup shall be a maximum of 41.5mm (1.6 inches) for better sweeping action at full angle and when broom head is at less than full angle.



8. The wires shall be electro-galvanized, hard drawn crimped steel bent in a 'U' shape known as a tuft



9. The wire tufts will be held in place by an 1/8-inch diameter steel rod running full length of the cassette. The steel rod shall be bent on 2 (two) separate positions.



10. Replacement cassettes shall fit in the equipment factory installed SIB cores (or equivalent).



11. Cassette shipping containers will be constructed in a fashion that eliminates any possibility of bent wires and is stackable up to 4 containers high to maximize storage capacity.



12. The bristles shall be suitable for use in temperatures seen at the altitude of the JBER AK and be guaranteed for a period of one year, and one full use of the bristles should last between 100 - 120 hours or down to the maximum wear.



Broom Cores



1. Broom core will consist of one section called the core.



2. The core will be 263.4 inches in length and 24.375 inches in diameter.



3. There will be 28 cassette tracks per section.



4. The tracks shall be lined with replaceable poly liners to facilitate the smooth sliding of cassettes into the tracks.



5. The poly liner shall be replaceable and, if replaced according to prescribed service maintenance, shall protect the aluminum tracks from wearing out.



6. Cores must be compatible with OEM MB2 chassis, plow, UB, CRDL broom and must carry a 10-year manufactures warranty period.



7. Cores must be factory balanced to eliminate vibration during high-speed rotation use up to 700 RPM.

  1. Recommend a solution that meets the customer's requirements.

  2. If you recommend a solution with differing characteristics than those specified, explain the product's features and justify how it better fulfills the customer's needs.
