Project Description: The Central Arizona Project (CAP) Canal Trail Expansion aims to enhance recreational opportunities by developing 39.5 miles of trail and building three new trailheads from Park Link Drive to the southern end of Florence. Most of the trail will follow the existing CAP maintenance road and other paved or two-track roads, with approximately 1,450 feet of new trail construction required. The project includes necessary new trail construction, installing fiberglass trail markers along the entire corridor, including from the Nona Road Trailhead to Pecan Road, to improve wayfinding, updating the management and maintenance plans, and coordinating with third parties to ensure effective development operation and upkeep of the trail segment. This expansion will provide safer and more accessible outdoor recreation for the community.
