Title: Newtown Estates Park Asphalt Trail

Sarasota County is requesting quotes from bidders to install a new asphalt trail connecting Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Newtown Boulevard, as illustrated in Attachment 1 (marked in yellow).
Trail Widening and Grading
i. The Contractor shall widen the existing 5-foot gravel and shell trail to a finished width of 8 feet. Existing material shall be
reused for grading and contouring where feasible. Any excess material not suitable for reuse shall be relocated onsite as directed
by the County.
ii. The Contractor shall install 2 to 3 inches of crushed concrete sub-base on the entire trail.
Asphalt Installation
i. The Contractor shall furnish and install 1,600 linear feet of trail, 8 feet wide, using FDOT-approved Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA).
Asphalt thickness shall be 1.5 to 2 inches and compacted using a minimum 3-ton vibratory roller to achieve a smooth, uniform
surface. Trail ends shall be flared 16 feet wide, extending 12 feet from the sidewalk connections at each end.
Site Cleanup and Disposal
i. The Contractor shall remove and properly dispose of all construction debris, trash, and excess materials at an approved offsite
disposal location. The site shall be left clean, graded, and free of obstructions upon project completion.
The Contractor shall perform all work under this agreement and shall not subcontract any
part thereof.
Award will be made to the responsive and responsible bidder providing the lowest total bid price.
DO NOT submit a quote of more than $50,000. In the event no responsive and responsible quotes are received under the quote threshold, the County may elect to cancel this Quick Quote and re-solicit using another procurement method.
