Overview

King Conservation District (KCD) is excited to announce the launch of our Farm-to-Community Collaborative Strategic Initiative!

This initiative will build on the success of existing Farm-to-Community Work that has supported hunger relief organizations in purchasing food directly from King County farmers. The expanded scope of this current RFP will strengthen regional coordination among existing programs and organizations, expand the resources available for local food purchasing, and develop shared approaches to technical assistance, data, communications, and program development. Greater coordination can help partners leverage existing investments, reduce duplication, strengthen shared capacity, and build a more coordinated and sustainable regional Farm-to-Community system.

King Conservation District (KCD) is seeking proposals from a qualified organization to serve as the Regional Coordinating Organization for a Regional Farm-to-Community Collaborative in King County. The Regional Coordinating Organization will provide strategic leadership, coordination, partnership development, technical assistance, resource development, and evaluation support to strengthen and expand the regional Farm-to-Community purchasing system.

The selected organization will work across existing Farm-to-Community programs and initiatives to strengthen coordination, expand investment, build organizational and technical capacity, and establish the regional infrastructure necessary for long-term growth and sustainability of a system of purchasing from King County Farmers by hunger relief organizations and community food access programs.

Funding and Period of Performance

The initiative is supported by up to $200,000 for the initial year of funding to enable the funding transition detailed in the RFP. KCD has sole discretion to modify the funding amount in consecutive years, with a minimum funding amount of $150,000 per year. Initial proposals should be for a one-year period of performance. Awarded proposals may be renewed for a total of five consecutive years at KCD’s discretion, considering funding availability and satisfactory performance.
