Sole Source Ambulance Service in McKinley County

Project Description: NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A CONTRACT WITHOUT ENGAGING IN A STANDARD PROCUREMENT PROCESS
This is NOT a request for competitive solicitation. This is a public notice for comment regarding a proposed procurement without engaging in a standard procurement process if it is determined that the following exist:
-There is only one source for the procurement item.
McKinley County, New Mexico has determined that the following unique service is required for the health, and safety of the McKinley County residents, and that only one vendor can provide this type of service.
A description of the required service that substantiates the sole source determination is as follows:
911 calls for emergency medical aid is frequent throughout McKinley County, the citizens need to have emergency medical services at all times. MedStar is to provide, at a minimum, 2 ambulance with EMT-Intermediates who will provide emergency treatment and care to those who need their services . MedStar is stationed in Gallup NM and will be available to respond to emergency calls for medical aid on a 24 hours basis. There are no other full time EMS capable agencies located in McKinley County
