| Project Description |
One-Two Sentences
Disposition has been recommended for Jacobs Hall (1961; 24,026 GSF) and Wellons Hall (1965; 20,490 GSF) as both are former residence halls that have been unsuitable for dormitory use for more than ten years and have since been used primarily for storage and limited office functions. Each building is beyond its useful service life, is in deteriorated condition, and is consuming maintenance resources disproportionate to its value. Due to physical constraints, such as limited floor-to-floor heights, and overall condition, neither facility is considered a good candidate for cost-effective renovation or modernization. Accordingly, demolition is recommended to eliminate the ongoing maintenance burden and support future campus site planning and redevelopment. Project includes sitework, site utilities and landscaping. The intended Schedule is subject to change: - 02/03/2026 Pre -Submittal Meeting @ 9am (virtual via Webex URL above) - 02/27/2026 Finalists Notified - 03/17/2026 Interviews (Virtual) So that the selection process is as objective as possible, from the date of this public announcement, applicants are not to communicate with members of the Board of Trustees, Campus Officials, and staff other than the Project Contact. All communications are to be directed to the project contact, Matt Greene via email only at matt.greene@uncp.edu with a copy to Douglas Hall at douglas.hall@uncp.edu.
