  • Summary:VSU is currently seeking to prequalify contractors to receive as many fully qualified Offerors as possible to bid on the Heating Plant Boiler Replacement. Replacing the existing Water Tube Boiler (Boiler #4) with (2) new 600 Hp 150 psig Fire Tube Steam Boilers. New boilers will be dual fuel (gas & #2 oil) fired and located in the same general area as the existing boiler #4 and the previous location of Boiler #3. The new boilers will be tied into the existing plant steam and condensate distribution systems, including using the existing deaerator and feed water system. New gas and oil piping will be extended from the existing mains. The new boiler flues will discharged vertically through new roof openings. Individual controllers for new boilers will be provided. All new equipment will be integrated into the current Preferred Utility SCADA system for monitoring. The existing condensate receiver (hot well) will be replaced with an in-kind volume (5000 Gallon) Tank and the existing feed water pump controller will be replaced. The new tank will be field fabricated and have the same footprint as the existing tank. The existing vertical turbine transfer pumps serving the hot well will be reused. The existing feed water pumps will be re-used.
