Summary

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS), is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) to obtain information and recommendations for available drone platforms suitable for multiple types of operations ranging from Overwatch, search and rescue, and Crash scene mapping.
This RFI is for information gathering and market research purposes only. Responses will assist OSHP in understanding available solutions, implementation strategies, cost structures, and best practices to guide potential future procurement activities.
Participation in this RFI is voluntary and does not guarantee inclusion in, or award from any subsequent solicitation.
The OSHP mission is to enhance safety, effectiveness, and operational readiness. OSHP is in need of choosing a new drone platform for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) operations . In support of this mission, we are committed to identifying and deploying a next-generation drone platform that enables safe, efficient, and intelligence-driven operations in high-risk environments.

In addition to other requirements, the drone must be compliant with the anticipated restrictions from the National Defense Authorization Act of 2025. (NDAA).

This initiative seeks to ensure that OSHP is equipped with reliable, NDAA-compliant technology that supports real-time situational awareness, secure communications, and seamless integration with the Division’s existing DroneSense program.

A formal solicitation—such as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or Request for Quote (RFQ)—may follow this RFI. Participation in this RFI is voluntary and does not guarantee inclusion in or award from any subsequent solicitation

Section 2: Drone Platform Overview
The OSHP seeks information on a drone platform that will serve as a critical tool for enhancing situational awareness,
reducing risk to personnel, and improving operational outcomes during operations ranging from overwatch, search and
rescue, and crash scene mapping
OSHP is seeking information on drone platforms that can support a wide range of public safety mission, including but not
limited to search and rescue, and crash scene mapping etc... , that allows enhancements for officer and public safety
during said operations. Due to procurement restrictions, the Division is no longer able to purchase the drones currently in
use (DJI). Therefore, we are exploring comparable or superior alternatives that meet operational, technical, and regulatory
requirements.
Section 3: Solution Information Requested
OSHP requests respondents to provide detailed information addressing the following categories:

Supporting multiple missions
Overwatch and surveillance
Search and rescue operations
Crash scene mapping and documentation

Supports live streaming to command units
Allows mission logging and playback
