Description: Project Number and Title: 151204/1512 - Cancer Center Pharmacy Compounding Renovation SUNY Upstate Medical University is seeking qualifications for the full design services (programming, design, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration), of an architect / engineering team to meet the increasing demand for compounding due to the growing number of patients. The second-floor Cancer Center pharmacy needs to expand its square footage. We want this area reviewed to figure out the best way to expand our hazardous and non-hazardous compounding rooms. We want to update the cleanrooms to meet the new United States Pharmacopeia (USP) cleanroom standards and look to keep the same number of staff in the area. The current setup has separate rooms for hazardous and non-hazardous compounding. Our plan is to expand the number of hoods from three to six, with three hoods for hazardous compounding and three for non-hazardous compounding. The new hoods will be more energy-efficient and require less exhaust. We also need to include three new Laminar Flow workbenches for non-hazardous compounding and three class 2A2 biological safety cabinets that are externally vented for storage. This reconfiguration will require new HEPA purged pass-thru chambers from the pharmacy work are to the cleanrooms. To expand the space, we need to relocate the existing pneumatic tube station and extend the existing dumb waiter from the 3rd floor to the 5th floor. This change will likely displace four pharmacy staff members, and we need to find a solution to keep them in the area. Our objective is to keep the same number of staff in the area while creating more space for compounding. The project area is approximately 1540 square feet. There will be no formal site visit nor will tours of the facility be given prior to the receipt of responses to the RFQ. A minimum of 5 years of experience in design of pharmaceutical laboratories and hospitals for both the architectural firm and its team members is required.
