Summary

The City of Surprise will accept bids for various fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and soil amendments as listed in the specifications. The City is seeking qualified suppliers to deliver the specified products within timeframes provided by the City after receipt of a purchase order. Many of these items are brand specific items, and no alternatives shall be accepted. Product active ingredients are also listed in this solicitation.

Background

The City of Surprise is seeking to award multiple landscape chemical contracts to include fertilizer, pesticides and other soil amendments to maintain the city’s parks, sports fields, around facilities and various open space areas. The contracts will be utilized primarily by the Parks & Recreation Department, the Sports & Tourism Department and Water Resource Management on a year-round basis.

The Parks & Recreation Department maintains 14 parks consisting of approximately 250 acres. The parks include several different amenities, sports courts, dog parks, open turf areas along with several sports fields. The Sports & Tourism Department oversees the Surprise Recreation Campus which is the Spring Training and Player Development home for the Texas Rangers and the Kansas City Royals. The Sports & Tourism Department also hosts several youth, high school and college tournaments throughout the year. The Surprise Recreation Campus consists of 18 fields including a stadium field, professional baseball fields and multi-purpose fields. The Water Resource Management Department maintains four (4) water reclamation treatment facilities and three (3) lift stations which total approximately one hundred (100) acres.
