Medical Waste Disposal for White Earth Health Clinic

NOTICE OF INTENT TO ISSUE SOLE SOURCE AWARD

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Bemidji Area intends to award a Firm Fixed Priced Contract on a sole source basis to Stericycle, for the White Earth Health Center in Ogema MN. The anticipated period of performance will be for a base plus 3 option years.

The sole source action will be issued under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.501(a) - only one source reasonably available. Stericycle is the only vendor in the area to cover both service units in White Earth and Naytahwaush that could pick up medical waste in a timely manner because there are no other established routes in the area. Medical waste can not lawfully be transported between locations and requires secure pick up, transportation and disposal by an accredited company that will cover these areas remote locations. Stericycle has established routes in this location.
