Description
The Ministry of Forests (FOR) is seeking a Proponent to execute a wildfire risk reduction treatment for a Crown land parcel near Central and Sollans road. The treatment area of 7.2 hectares (HI-1) must be completed by Sunday, March 23
rd
, 2025. Please note there is only one treatment unit for this contract with 2.9 hectares of excluded area (HI-2). There are many public trails and infrastructure in the area that need to be considered for safe operations. The work area must be assessed for wildlife and dangerous trees during the contract period before work starts. The Proponent would be responsible for the wildlife dangerous tree mitigation; however, any felling and/or removal will require authorization by the Ministry Representative. The work will be brushing immature trees less than 6 inches; pruning lower conifer branches to a 2-metre fuel stratum gap; bucking woody debris to lay flat on the ground; and dispersal, chipping, removal of brushing, pruning and limbing debris. This area does have a Non-Treatment Unit (NTU) of 0.4 hectares and no machinery in these areas is allowed. A wildfire risk reduction sign will be provided from FOR to be installed at the Jan B. Trail entrance
