Description:

The Township of Hanover seeks experienced Historic Restoration General Contractors who specialize in exterior carpentry repairs, masonry repairs, window and door restoration, siding and trim restoration, installation of new exterior lighting, and surface preparation and painting of the historic finish to submit pre-qualification statements for the Exterior Repair and Restoration of the Tuttle House. The site is located at 341 NJ-10, Whippany, NJ 07981 and is listed on the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places. All work done on this project must conform to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties (revised 1995, current 2017) and is subject to review by the County of Morris, New Jersey Historic Trust and/or the State Historic Preservation Office.

The Project generally consists of the following Scope of Work:

1. Project Supervision and Administration of Historic Preservation Projects:Â

a. Provide supervision, administration, mockups, protection, and treatment

procedures in accordance with the construction documents.

2. Selective Demolition:

a. Removal of existing damaged exterior cladding and work identified in the

documents.

3. Wood Repair and Replacement in a Historic Building:

a. Restoration of wood shutters, and replication of new shutters.

b. Repair and replacement of rotted wood clapboard.

c. Repair and replacement of decorative wood trim.

d. Preparation, and painting of existing and new wood elements.

4. Light Fixture Installation in a Historic Building:

a. Installation of new exterior lighting per the contract documents.

5. Window Restoration in a Historic Building:

a. Restoration of historic wood framed windows and glazing.

6. Masonry Restoration in a Historic Building:

a. Spot repair of masonry chimneys and stucco.

Qualifications:
The qualifications of prospective bidders will be evaluated by representatives of the Township, Morris County, the New Jersey Historic Trust, and the project architects in accordance with the Evaluation Criteria set forth herein. Prospective bidders whose bidder's Qualifications Statements are determined to be acceptable will be identified as Qualified Bidders.
