The MN Department of Public Safety-BCA Lab intends to award a firm fixed-price purchase order to Leed's Forensic Systems on a single source basis to acquires the following: qty. 3 Zeiss Stemi 508 stereo microscopes and associated accessories as a package arrangement.
Stemi 508 microscopes are no longer being sold as they are manufactured in Belarus and due to the Ukraine war are not being imported. The BCA currently used Stemi 508’s for firearms and NIBIN sections exclusively for casework and consistency in equipment is important for training and use of the equipment.
Leeds has notified the BCA that they currently have three Stemi 508 models and accessories in stock and available for purchase.
Internet searches did not elicit additional suppliers that would be able to supply the requested microscopes.
