Overview

Summary

The Jail Fencing Project involves the design and construction of upgraded perimeter security fencing at the County Jail facility to improve site security, access control, and operational safety. The project includes removal of select portions of existing fencing, installation of new 8-foot-tall chain-link security fencing with three strands of barbed wire, and the addition of concertina wire at designated locations. The scope also includes installation of two motorized rolling gates, including a primary rolling gate near the solar parking area with keypad access, as well as a single pedestrian gate to provide controlled personnel access.

Background

The existing fencing along portions of the site, including the cemetery boundary, is undersized and does not meet current security needs. The current configuration presents concerns related to security vulnerabilities, maintenance issues, and aesthetics where multiple fences are located adjacent to one another. This project will replace and realign fencing where necessary to create a more secure, consistent, and manageable perimeter while reducing potential areas of risk. Guide rollers will be installed at the far end of the primary 24-foot rolling gate to maintain alignment and reliable operation during high-wind conditions.

The project has been developed in coordination with the Sheriff’s Office to ensure that the new fencing layout and gate locations align with operational needs. In addition to the two rolling gates, the project includes remote access control from within the Jail for dispatch or authorized staff. These improvements are intended to enhance overall site security, improve gate reliability, and support safe and efficient facility operations.
