Overview
Summary

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) is requesting qualifications from experienced engineering firms to provide General Engineering Consultant (GEC) services for the HARRSION ROAD @ PANTANO WASH BRIDGE, located in Tucson, AZ. This project involves the design and construction of a bridge with two travel lanes and a multi-use path on Harrison Road over the Pantano Wash.

The GEC will act as an extension of the City of Tucson DTM staff and will work for and report to the City's Project Manager. The GEC will provide construction administration and technical support services to augment the City’s Field Engineering Team.

The Consultant will assist the City of Tucson DTM in the management and implementation of the HARRSION ROAD @ PANTANO WASH BRIDGE project during pre-construction, construction, and post-construction phases. The Consultant’s services may include, but not be limited to, services listed in the Scope of Services section of this solicitation. The Consultant is expected to demonstrate experience working with the City of Tucson DTM, Pima County Flood Control, and utility companies; and experience with structural design, roadway design and construction.

The selected consultant will not be eligible to participate on the Design Build Team.

Background

The Harrison Road Pantano Wash Bridge Project is located in the City of Tucson, in Pima County, Arizona. Currently the Pantano Wash crosses over Harrison Road at-grade. Whenever there is a significant storm event, the city has to close down Harrison Road at this crossing due to the wash flowing across the road. In order to address this issue, a bridge to accommodate two travel lanes and the existing multi-use path is to be constructed on Harrison Road over the Pantano Wash. The Pantano Wash is a part of the FEMA Regulatory Floodway and will require environmental permitting.

The City of Tucson DTM intends to use a Progressive Design Build process for this project. The GEC will help the City of Tucson DTM navigate through this process to ensure a successful project.
