Overview

Summary

2027 Opioid Use Disorder Grant Application Summary

Illinois expects to receive more than $1.3 billion in settlement monies by 2038, to be used in all parts of the state to abate the opioid crisis. The Illinois Attorney General, along with those of other states, sued prescription opioid distributors, manufacturers, and dispensers to seek recovery for their unfair and deceptive practices. These lawsuits led to numerous multi-state settlement agreements. The Illinois Opioid Allocation Agreement established that 55% of the funds will go to the Illinois Opioid Remediation Fund, 20% will be allocated to the state, and 25% will be allocated to local government units. Of that 25%, Aurora will receive approximately 1.13%. The City of Aurora will focus on awarding agencies currently providing eligible activities on the list below that are required to use this funding. The City will award local agencies that have an established track record in serving individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD), co-occurring substance use disorders (SUD), and mental health disorders (MH). Agencies awarded this funding are expected to have the capacity to administer this funding effectively, to track and show measurable outcomes and meaningful impacts, and to provide financial reports on time. The expected performance and financial reporting will be similar to the City's Community Development Block Grant program.

Background

Prospective OUD applicants are required to schedule a pre-application meeting with the City. The purpose of the pre-application meeting is to discuss the agency’s proposed project’s funding eligibility as well as the agency’s capacity to administer this grant. To schedule a pre-application meeting, please contact the Community Reinvestment Division at COACDD@aurora.il.us or 630-256-3320.
