***THIS IS A COMBINED SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE AND NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE***
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing Wolfram Mathematica software support and maintenance. If no alternate sources are identified, the Government intends to issue a Sole Source Award to Wolfram Research, 100 Trade Center Drive, Champaign, IL 61820, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 513210, Software Publisher with a size standard of $47.0 M.
NIST has a need for Wolfram Mathematica software support and maintenance.
The Wolfram Research Mathematica software is an application for computation and fully integrates computation into complete workflows at NIST. Mathematica includes the ability to be integrated into one platform.
The salient characteristics include:
- symbolic and numerical computation that enables unique hybrid methods for many problems and ensuring consistent results whenever quantities of any precision are combined.
Mathematica software is essential to NIST researchers in both Gaithersburg and Boulder campuses. If the maintenance contract is not renewed on time for the software, it would impact the research work that needs to use this software.
Switching to another product would result in the loss of used features and the rewriting of code to use a different product. Current research projects using Mathematica will be interrupted and delayed.
