Project Overview
A. Project Description
The Ohio State University is seeking a Criteria Architect/Engineer for the Emergency Generator Replacement project
serving Rightmire Hall (0308), McPherson Chemical Laboratory (0053), and Celeste Laboratory of Chemistry (0371).
The project will replace aging emergency power infrastructure serving the three facilities and improve long term reliability,
maintainability, and code compliance of the emergency power systems. The project includes replacement of the existing
Rightmire Hall generator arrangement, replacement of the existing McPherson Chemical Laboratory generator,
consolidation of emergency power loads currently served by the Celeste Laboratory of Chemistry generator, and
demolition of obsolete emergency power infrastructure.
At Rightmire Hall, the existing emergency power arrangement consists of two generators located in the penthouse and
one generator located at grade. The project intends to replace these generators with a single exterior diesel generator
installation.
At McPherson Chemical Laboratory, the existing penthouse diesel generator will be removed and replaced with a new
exterior diesel generator. The new generator will serve emergency loads currently associated with McPherson Chemical
Laboratory and Celeste Laboratory of Chemistry.
The existing natural gas generator serving Celeste Laboratory of Chemistry will be removed and not replaced.
The project shall include all required generators, integral belly tanks, transfer switches, switchgear, controls, monitoring
systems, electrical distribution modifications, structural modifications, utility coordination, demolition, and associated work
required to deliver complete and code-compliant emergency power systems.
Generator capacity requirements shall include consideration of future emergency loads associated with the planned ERIK
Vivarium located in Scott Hall.
An Owner's Project Requirements document has been developed and will be provided to the selected Criteria
Architect/Engineer.

developing the Program of Requirements.
The selected Criteria Architect/Engineer ("C-A/E"), as a portion of its required Scope of Services and prior to submitting its
proposals, will discuss and clarify with the Owner/Contracting Authority, the cost breakdown of the Architect/Engineer
Agreement detailed cost components to address the Owner's project requirements. Participate in the Encouraging
Growth, Diversity & Equity ("EDGE") Program as required by statute and the Agreement.
