Sealed proposals will be received by Nash Community College in Rocky Mount NC, in the office of
Carol Dornseif, 522 N. Old Carriage Road, Rocky Mount, NC in the Business & Industry Building
(bid opening will be held upstairs in the Small Business Center Conference Room) up to 2:00
pm December 2, 2025 and immediately thereafter publicly opened and read for the furnishing of labor,
material and equipment entering into the construction of
Nash CC S&T Chiller Replacement
The purpose of this project is to provide services to remove and replace the existing 230-ton York
chiller unit and replace it with a new installed Carrier unit or equivalent. The unit services the Science
&Technology Building located on the campus of Nash Community College (522 N. Old Carriage Road,
Rocky Mount, NC 27804):
The Scope of Work consists of:
a) Remove and replace the existing 230-ton unit with a replacement system equal to or better than
the existing system as new. Furnish and install a new 225-ton unit Carrier 30XV-2256SL00-3C2
or a comparable unit.

b) Job to include replacing chilled water heat trace from the ground to where the chilled water
piping attaches to the chiller.
c) Provide equipment manufactured by Carrier or other approved equivalent system manufacturer.
Clearly state brands, sizes, model numbers, warranty information, and applicable EER or
SEER ratings clearly in your proposal. Manufacturer specification sheets for the
proposed equipment shall also be included. Failure to identify proposed equipment shall
render the Offeror’s proposal invalid.
d) Include alternate brands, sizes, and warranty information with proposal.
e) Furnish all materials, parts, and components necessary to install the new system to the existing
controls, electrical supply, and hydronic piping.
f) Make necessary hydronic piping changes to connect to the new chiller.
g) Provide 2” thick pipe insulation and aluminum jacket to match existing pipe insulation.
h) Provide the necessary crane for removal of the existing chiller and installation of the new chiller.
i) Remove and dispose of the old unit off site according to State and local codes
j) Reclaim and dispose of the freon from the equipment as per the EPA guidelines.
k) Ensure all electrical components meet or exceed all North Carolina and local codes and must
be certified by UL®.
l) Verify proper operation and provide training to the site staff prior to leaving.
m) Be licensed in the State of North Carolina to perform heating and air conditioner removal and
replacement services and provide a copy of the installer’s NC License Certification in proposal.
n) Provide proof of commercial liability insurance in the proposal.
o) Guarantee all work from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year (labor
and parts). Copies of all warranty information shall be furnished to the College prior to
submission of the written invoice.
p) Warranty the compressor from defects for parts for a period of not less than five (5) years.

q) Meet with and coordinate all activities with Nash Community College’s Director of Facilities on
the timing of installation.
r) Invoice will not be issued until all of the above are complete, College personnel are trained on
routine maintenance, and the system is operating to the satisfaction of the College’s Director of
Facilities.
s) Have performed and completed similar services for hire within the last two (2) years.
References should be provided.
t) PERFORM ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGE ORDERS WITHOUT THE PRIOR APPROVAL IN
WRITING FROM NASH COMMUNITY COLLEGE ADMINISTRATION. UNAPPROVED
CHANGE ORDERS WILL NOT BE PAID.
u) Install unit within 120 days of notice of award.
All proposals shall be lump sum.
Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting
An open pre-bid meeting will be held for all interested bidders on November 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the
Science &Technology building (meet in lobby), 522 N. Old Carriage Road, Rocky Mount, NC
27804. The meeting will address project specific questions, issues, bidding procedures and bid forms.
Questions may be submitted to Carol Dornseif, cjdornseif810@nashcc.edu by November 12, 2025 with
answers and any amendments submitted to interested bidders by November 19, 2025.
NOTE: The bidder shall include with the bid proposal the form Identification of Minority Business
Participation identifying the minority business participation it will use on the project and shall include
either Affidavit A or Affidavit B as applicable. Forms and instructions are included within the Proposal
Form in the bid documents. Failure to complete these forms is grounds for rejection of the bid.

All contractors are hereby notified that they must have proper license as required under the state laws
governing their respective trades. All state and local building codes and regulations must be complied
with.
Payment will be made after the scope of work is completed with the final payment made upon
completion and acceptance of work.
No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of 30
days.
The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.
