May 21, 2026
The attention of bidders submitting proposals for the above-referenced project is called
to the following Addendum to the Request for Proposals indicated above. The items set
forth herein, whether of omission, addition, substitution or other change, are all to be
included in, and form a part of the proposed Contract Documents for the work.
Inclusion of this Addendum must be acknowledged in the spaces provided in the
document entitled “Request for Proposals 26-019 - Chain Link Fence and Other Related
Appurtenances”. Failure to acknowledge any and all addenda in the above specified
bid form may be cause for rejection of the bids by the Owner on the grounds that it is
not responsive.
This addendum consists of two (2) pages.
Item 1: Questions and Answers:
Q1: In the details in Appendix C: Fence Specifications, it calls out for the posts to be Galvanized
Schedule 40 Steel Pipe. Cosco is requesting that Galvanized SS-40 Steel Pipe be used in lieu of
Galvanized Schedule 40 Steel Pipe. The reasons for this requested change are: 1) SS-40 Steel
Pipe is much cheaper than Schedule 40 Steel Pipe, 2) SS-40 Steel Pipe is stronger than Schedule
40 Steel Pipe, 3) Cosco uses SS-40 Steel Pipe on RIDOT projects and is standard for RIDOT.
A1: PWSB requests that the bid price incorporates the materials specified in Appendix C.
Q2: In the details in Appendix C: Fence Specifications, it calls out for the fence fabric to be
Aluminized 9 Gauge x 2” Mesh Fence Fabric. Cosco is requesting that Galvanized 9 Gauge x 2”
Mesh Fence Fabric be used in lieu of Aluminized 9 Gauge x 2” Mesh Fence Fabric. The reasons
for this requested change are: 1) Galvanized Fence Fabric is much cheaper than Aluminized
Fence Fabric, 2) Cosco uses Galvanized Fence Fabric on RIDOT projects and is standard for
RIDOT.
A2: PWSB requests that the bid price incorporates the materials specified in Appendix C.
Q3: In the details in Appendix C: Fence Specifications, it calls out for the barbed wire to be 3
Strand Aluminized 4-Point Barbed Wire. Cosco is requesting that Galvanized 4-Point Barbed
Wire be used in lieu of Aluminized 4-Point Barbed Wire. The reasons for this requested change
are: 1) Galvanized Barbed Wire is much cheaper than Aluminized Barbed Wire, 2) Cosco uses
Galvanized Barbed Wire on RIDOT projects and is standard for RIDOT.
