QUESTIONS & ANSWERS No. 3
Issued: March 4, 2026
Whitehaven Clinic Construction
(Health Services Department)
TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS:
The following question(s) were submitted by potential bidders with answers listed below in red:
Will the contractor be required to include the cost of the Builder’s Risk Insurance policy?
If so, will this policy require earthquake and flood coverage?
Response: SC will cover the cost of the Builder’s Risk Insurance. The bidding GC’s
are not to include the cost of this insurance in their bid.
Do you know if we can still turn in RFI questions? I’m not finding anything on what
system to use for elevation C, there are 45 of them 6’-0” x 6’-0”. The basis of design on
the plans say Ready Access for those, I know that is not right? Do those need to be
curtain wall as well? Also, are we allowed to use YKK Products?
Response: For the punch openings, the basis of design is Kawneer Tri-fab 451T.
What storefront system is required for elevation C? Qty: 45 6’-0” x 6’-0” The plans say
ready access.
Response: For the punch openings, the basis of design is Kawneer Tri-fab 451T.
Can YKK Curtain wall be used on this project?
Response: Yes, YKK can be used, along with their integrated sunscreen system.
Some elevations have doors that are not on the door schedule. Is this correct?
Response: It is the design intent that all doors shown, regardless if they are
scheduled, are to be provided as part of the project.
Some elevations are on more than one for such as G & H on the 1st and 2nd floors. Is this
right?
Response: The question is not clear. PFI cannot provide a response.
I have not been able to locate where the modular glazed partitions are provided in the
drawings, per Addendum 6 and below.
Response: It is all of the interior glass and associated full lite glass doors. See A-600
series sheets. A-635, A-637, A-639. If you have not already done so, you will need to
download the documents associated with addendum No. 6 from
shelbycountybids.gov
I’m reviewing Addendum 6 for the Whitehaven Clinic project. The addendum instructs
us to remove the plan sheets dated December 2 and replace them with the revised sheets.
However, the drawing set we currently have is the Permit Set dated October 6, 2025, and
we do not have any sheets dated December 2. Could you please confirm if a December 2
drawing set was previously issued and where we can access it? Or is December 2 simply
the issued date referenced in the addendum, and the new sheets should replace the
October 6 set we currently have?
Response: It may have been a typo on the date, but simply put, the sheets included in the
Addendum No. 6 need to replace the sheets from the original bid package.
Could you confirm the bid date on the Whitehaven Clinic Construction SB-I000928. We
are getting different info from different GC’s
Response: The bid due date is March 13, 2026 @ 2:00 p.m. as noted in Addendum No.
5, posted to the Shelby County website.
NOTE: “Window types 1-01, 1-02 & 1-03 are to be storefront to match the exterior
storefront but with frames that are 4-1/2” deep instead of demountable wall. The
basis of design manufacturer of the demountable wall system has expressed concern
about the duty cycle of the vestibule doors since they are part of the main building
entrance.”
Sincerely,
