Description
MIL-DTL-85891 has recently been published to Revision C as of 23 June 2025 with modifications outlined in the continuation sheet dated 22 July 2025. Under the new revision, a qualified products list (QPL) is being established in accordance with DoDM 4120.24, Defense Standardization Procedures. After a vendor’s product has successfully passed all requirements outlined in MIL-DTL-85891, the vendor’s product will be added to the QPL that’s hosted within the Qualified Products Database (QPD) at the following website: https://quicksearch.dla.mil/qsSearch.aspx.
AFLCMC/ROD has a contract established with University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) and funded by AFLCMC/EZP to perform the first round of testing. If the vendor’s product meets all requirements, it will be added to the QPL. If a vendor’s product does not meet all requirements, retesting will be accomplished at their own expense.
Since there are multiple Types and associated suppliers of Engineered Media Blast (EMB), and the contract duration is one (1) year, vendors have thirty (30) calendar days from publish of this notice to ship their products for testing and potential qualification to the following address:
Advanced Technology and Training Center (ATTC)
Attention: Scott Pagenkopf
207 Russell Parkway
Warner Robins, GA 31088
Vendors are required to supply the following at their own cost for qualification testing:
-
At least 60 pounds of media in a box or barrel. Larger amounts are allowed, but no more than one 55-gallon drum of media.
-
At least a 5” X 5” X 1” of stock material for hardness testing portion of qualification in accordance with paragraph 3.4.1 of MIL-DTL-85891
-
Certificate of Conformity that states media lot/batch number of media
-
Safety Data Sheet for the media. Any antistatic agents, fillers, or other foreign materials performance enhancement for product stability must be identified by the manufacturer and reported to government in accordance with paragraph 3.3.1 of MIL-DTL-85891
-
