The City of Richmond, Virginia (the "City"), on behalf of the Department of Public Utilities ("DPU"), seeks bids from qualified firms to provide general contracting services for the Hobby Hill Lake Dam Rehabilitation project (the "Project"). The Project will entail the removal and replacement of the dam and principal outlet structure, as well as the stabilization of seepage through the dam using a blanket, chimney, and foundation drain (the "Work"). The Work, more particularly described below in the Statement of Work, also includes demolition of existing hydraulic structures, maintenance of buffer zone of dam slopes, construction of the new dam, roadway elements, and associated spillway and drainage structures.
Hobby Hill Dam is a 640-ft long and 25-ft in height earthen embankment in the Huguenot area of Richmond. The dam is owned by the City with Hobby Hill Road transversing the crest. The embankment impounds Hobby Hill Lake which is owned by the Hobby Hill Civic Association (HHCA) and is assumed to be an old farm or subdivision pond. The reservoir has a normal pool capacity of 28.26 ac-ft with a maximum capacity of 48.20 ac-ft.
