The EZ2 Connect Fx (or equal) must meet all of the following criteria and specifications:
• offers the ability to run up to 24 samples at a time.
• offers extraction that takes place within a filtered tip, minimizing or eliminating cross contamination.
• offers protocols using “tip-dance”, which enables the lab to keep sample substrate in the sample tube during
extraction, eliminating an extra transfer and/or centrifugation step.
• offers an integrated UV LED to decontaminate the robotic work deck.
•offers the ability to track run data, including reagent and sample data.
Individual components include:
offers sample tracking capabilities throughout the purification via a barcode reader connected to the
instrument. Data collected includes sample and reagent information.
offers the ability to provide instrument alerts or status updates to a remote PC, smart phone or tablet.
allows the transfer of data via a USB Port.
data reporting is compatible with commonly used Laboratory Information Management Systems
(LIMS).
offers the capability of an automated “load-check” function that ensures correct loading of plasticware
and reagents prior to extraction run commencement.
should offer protocols and required hardware (“Flip Cap Rack”) that enable the lab to elute the DNA
directly into the final 1.5 mL, screw-cap storage tube, eliminating an extra transfer step by the end user.
Vendor kit (EZ1&2 DNA Investigator Kit - or equal) should offer a single kit, the (EZ1&2 DNA
Investigator Kit (48) - or equal), which contains sealed reagent strips suitable for performing DNA
extractions for both CODIS/NDIS DNA and trace DNA casework.
Vendor instrument/kit (EZ2 Connect Fx/EZ1&2 DNA Investigator Kit - or equal) should allow the end
user to select to elute the DNA with either water or low TE buffer, both of which are contained in the
reagent strip.
Elution volume should be selectable from 20 μl to 200 μl.
should offer existing protocols for casework and reference samples for each sample type used in the
DNA forensics lab including liquid blood, dried blood spots, buccal swabs, saliva on cards, hair, tissue,
fingernails, feces, clothing, cigarette butts, differential extractions (epithelial and sperm cells), mouth
washes and DNA clean-up of organic extractions.

Contains 24 high-precision syringe pumps, each containing a tip adapter that attaches to filter-tips. Each tip
aspirates and dispenses 20–1000 μl liquid.
M-axis contains a magnet that can be moved in Z-direction above the worktable to attract particles within
tips attached to the pipettor head.
