Project Description: The Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) has been supporting household hazardous waste (HHW) and hard to recycle (HTR) collections for over 20 years. At these one-day events, hard to dispose of materials such as HHW (paint and paint products, automobile fluids, pesticides, pool chemicals, cleaners) e-waste, and tires have been collected. These collection events have become very popular with the residents of Allegheny County even though there were fees involved.
The ACHD is seeking to partner with a qualified organization to plan, advertise and conduct these collections. It is essential to give residents convenient and affordable recycling options for these materials to help protect the environment, save natural resources and landfill space, and fight illegal dumping throughout the County.
