The existing Very High Frequency (VHF) radio infrastructure used by Wheatland County (the County) fire halls and the rural fire associations that provide service within the County has been experiencing ongoing issues, including system instability, persistent gaps in radio coverage and short distance communications, leading to safety concerns. To address these challenges, the County is seeking a qualified vendor to manage, conduct and deliver the transition from the current radio infrastructure to the AFRRCS (Alberta First Responders Radio Communication System) radio system. This upgrade is intended to enhance reliability, stability, coverage, safety and interoperability with other first responders.
