This is a Special Notice of intent to procure one KingFisher Flex Purification System with 96 Deep-well Head, Catalog Number: 5400630. This is a versatile benchtop automated extraction
instrument that can process 24-96 samples per run with little human intervention. This equipment is critical for PIFSC to conduct eDNA lab work that will support multiple research projects and will automate DNA extraction and bead cleaning to dramatically improve efficiency at a reduced labor cost.

PIFSC proposes to purchase the required instrumentation on a sole source basis from Life Technologies, a subsidiary of Thermo Fisher. The Government intends to acquire the equipment using FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items in conjunction with FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
The Government intends to negotiate a firm-fixed-price purchase order with an approximate delivery date of July 31, 2025. The NAICS code for this procurement is 334516 with a corresponding size standard of 1000 employees.
