Description
The City of Kelowna is seeking qualified contractors to manage demolition projects. Responsibilities include obtaining permits, providing labor, materials, equipment, and insurance, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. Contractors must adhere to hazardous materials reports, submit pre-work documentation, and oversee thorough site cleanup and security.
Hazardous materials assessment and abatement are handled by separate City contractors. However, demolition contractors must coordinate site safety, environmental compliance, debris removal, and subcontractor management while following all relevant regulations. They are also responsible for securing work sites, protecting historical artifacts, preventing environmental contamination, and immediately reporting hazardous materials.
All demolition activities must comply with federal, provincial, and municipal environmental protection laws. Eligible contractors must have relevant experience and demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental responsibility.
